AirTag vs a connected GPS tracker.

An AirTag is a Bluetooth-network item finder, not a cellular GPS tracker. Its remote updates depend on nearby compatible devices. A connected GPS tracker obtains its own position and uses a supported network to send it to an app.

What to check

For luggage or keys, an item finder can be convenient. For a moving animal or a vehicle outside busy areas, the ability to request frequent updates can matter more. Both options have limits, including reception, battery maintenance and potentially delayed positions.

Before you rely on it

Apple compatibility and anti-stalking features must be considered before buying. Our older-generation AirTag profile does not establish the price or specifications of a newer model. Check the exact generation and package rather than using an unrelated current listing as the price of the older device.
