Lost dog: using a GPS tracker during a search.

If your dog goes missing, switch to the available live-tracking mode and check when the displayed location was recorded. Share a recent photo and identifying details with local shelters or the appropriate animal register. Ask someone to stay at the last familiar location if that suits the situation.

What to check

A moving map point may be delayed, and the dog can move between updates. Approach calmly and avoid chasing a frightened animal. Check roads, terrain and your own safety before following a route. A low battery or lost mobile signal can interrupt updates during the search.

Before you rely on it

Save the tracker support details, identification number and emergency contacts in advance. Practise finding a known location with the app, and make sure another trusted person can access location sharing where supported. Afterwards, inspect the attachment and adjust the escape prevention plan.
