Tracking an outdoor cat: GPS, Bluetooth or neither?
Start by asking what problem you want to solve: understanding roaming, finding a missing animal, or simply adding identification. A GPS tracker can provide remote updates through its supported network. A Bluetooth tag relies on compatible devices passing nearby and may not update in quiet places.

What to check
Comfort and a safe attachment come before the map. A breakaway collar, appropriate weight and regular fitting checks are essential considerations. No tracking system replaces identification registration, and a detached collar can show the device’s position rather than the cat’s.
Before you rely on it
If the animal does not tolerate a suitable device, tracking may not be the right choice. If you proceed, start gradually, check coverage around home and know the last-update indicator. Interpret location history as approximate observations rather than a complete record of every movement.
