GPS positioning does not have the short fixed radius of a Bluetooth connection. A remote tracker’s practical usefulness depends on satellite reception, the network used to send updates and the provider’s supported service area. These limits are different from proximity finding range.

What to check
A cellular tracker can obtain a position in a remote place yet fail to deliver it when there is no supported mobile coverage. A Bluetooth tag may be far away and still receive an update if a compatible phone passes nearby. Neither guarantees coverage along every route.
Before you rely on it
Check supported countries and the exact network technology before travel. Look at timestamps and offline behaviour, including whether missed positions are stored. For wilderness safety, a conventional consumer GPS tracker should not be treated as a substitute for a suitable emergency communication device.
